The Destin Beach Safety Jr. Lifeguards were formed in 2007 due to the popular demand for a youth program in the City of Destin.  The program started small with 40 students and has since grown to include 60 Jr. Lifeguards and 60 Lifeguards in Training.

The Jr. Lifeguard program lasts eight weeks during the summer and teaches kids a variety of skills.  They learn things such as First Aid, CPR & AED training, marine life identification and water awareness.

Along with these useful skills, they also take field trips around the area to further their education.  The Jr. Lifeguards visit; The Okaloosa Island Fishing Pier, Destin Fire Department, and go SCUBA diving with Emerald Coast Scuba.

The Jr. Lifeguard Race Team is one of the standouts in the USLA.  Several Regional and National Champions have been crowned wearing Destin’s signature Black and White Stripes.  We look forward to National Championships 2010, Huntington Beach!

The Destin Beach Safety Jr. Lifeguards have changed the history of Destin by shaping the way its youth approach and respect the water.
